Having used digital cameras since late 1990s, I have never looked back to film or slides. I have always shoot alot even when I was shooting slides or film. With digital cameras, I save on the cost of slide/film, processing fees and also printing out mostly unwanted 3Rs/4Rs prints. Going digital indeed keeps the earth green - a 8 gig card is about 10 rolls of film?
There has never been a better time than now to start digital photography. Imagine a 24 megapixels that can shoot at 12 frames per second selling at about SGD1700!
My first DSLR cost me over SGD2000 and the resolution is only 6 megapixels :( Even compact digital cameras are selling at about SGD200 for a 12 megapixels or 14 megapixels camera.
Storage cards are so affordable at about $15 for a 8 gig SD card. In 2007, it was selling at SGD40 a gig! So, it has never been a better time to pick up photography as a hobby as it is very affordable now. Sure, if you are talking about those fancy lenses that need 2-3 guys to carry, then it is not going to be cheap :)
